Tags for Governance Discussions
Items in the FIP Discussion Forum can represent varying levels of doneness, and can cover a broad array of topics.
Tags are added to discussion items to help community members understand the context of a thread.
Tag Types
Type Tags
New! - Posts opened within the last month
Active - Posts updated within the last two months
Quiet - Posts without an update for more than two months
Wishlist - Low-priority ideas or enhancements, or those put on hold for the future
Status Tags
Discussion - Open questions looking for input
Idea - An early-stage suggestion looking for input
Pre-FIP - A developed idea being turned into a FIP proposal
PR Submitted - A full proposal has been submitted to the repo for initial technical review, auditing, and further refinement
FIP Merged - A full proposal that has been merged into the FIP repo for additional work and review; pre- Last Call
FIPXXXX - Indicates that the Issue has become a formal FIP proposal, and identifies the corresponding FIP number
FRC - Indicates that the topic is FRC related
Progress Tags
It should be assumed that all FIPs are in 'draft' stage, i.e., open to collaboration and accepting community input, unless otherwise specified with the following tags:
Draft - A FIP which has been merged, but is still open for community consideration
Last Call - A complete FIP draft, in the final two weeks of community feedback before acceptance/rejection
Accepted - A FIP that is approved for on-chain incorporation and is awaiting implementation
Deferred - A FIP proposal that was put on hold, after a PR draft had already been submitted
Implemented - A FIP that has been accepted by the community and committed on-chain
If given one of the above tags, a FIP number will also (always) be present.
Technical Tags
Each FIP Discussion item is already opened in a corresponding category: Governance, Technical, Organizational, and Miscellaneous.
Technical FIPs are the most common, and will be labeled according to the following sub-types:
[TBD; looking for input from Filecoin community members]
Miscellaneous Tags
Documentation - Official guidance, processes, and instructions on FIPs and Filecoin governance
vXX Upgrade - The network version that first incorporated the FIP on-chain; will always correspond to a FIP with an 'Implemented' progress tag.
