aws ecs run-task leaking logs from task

I am running on a Macbook with awscli version 2.7.1. When I run the following command: aws ecs run-task --cluster my-cluster --task-definition arn:aws:ecs:us-east-1:123456789:task-definition/my-task:1 --profile my-profile --region us-east-1 apart from getting the API output correctly I seem to be receiving a stream of logs from the task, even after the command has exited.

As it can be seen from the screenshot, the command terminates, and then it start printing the logs, until the task has stopped.

The only relevant part of the task definition is that it uses awslogs for the log driver (I am guessing it's the reason for this behavior).

I have spent hours researching this and I have not found anything relevant. Inspecting the cli source code didn't reveal anything either. Apparently this just calls the corresponding API endpoint. So I have no clue what is going on.

• Is this the expected behaviour for run-task?
• If so, why this is not documented anywhere?
• If so, is there any way to disable this behaviour?
• If not, should I open a bug report?

Nevermind, I figured out I had background processes running aws logs and that's why I was seeing the output.
